Pitted Bore Says "3000fps" but the truth is, is i saw him shooting against Thunder Bolts and beating them in a flat-out race..

Well, the truth of this statement rests with the definition of "Thunder Bolts". If its is the Rem 22 ammo, then Wildcatter is correct. Thunderbolt ammo has a velocty of about 1255 ft/sec, so I win by a factor of about 2.5X

However, if the definition involves lightning strikes, it's really incorrect, but quantifying by how much is messy. Different kinds of lightning have different speeds. Link: Lightning Fact Sheet

The "leader" on a good cloud-to-ground strike travels very approximately 220,000 kilometers per hour or about 200,000 ft/sec, which is 64X faster than the zippy 200-grain bullets. The ground to cloud strike that follows the leader is faster, approximately 100,000,000 kilometers per hour or about 91,000,000 ft/sec. That's about 30,000X faster than the 200-grain bullets.
