H110 in the 450 bushmaster

Postby Mdt1992 » Thu Aug 28, 2014 3:25 pm

Just got off of work and decided to stop by the local gun shop on the way home and they happened to have a bunch of h110 and 296 amongst others but no lil gun so I left there with a 8lb jug of h110 mainly for 300 blackout supers. Anyone have any loads for h110 in 450bm with 200 and 225gr ftx?

As always with reloading, be safe, work up, watching for pressure signs. I put 40.6 gr of H110 under a 225 FTX and got 0.7 inch groups at 100 yards. Remmy 7 1/2 primers, a slight side crimp plus a taper crimp to .475. OAL was 2.097.

Mdt1992-
The new Lyman AR Reloading Handbook provides loading data for 200-grain bullets only for the Barnes XPB 200-grainer; their data may not apply to the 200-grain Hornady FTX.

However, for the 225 FTX bullet they show a starting load of 38.0 grains of H110 and a max load 0f 42.2 grains. (NOTE: You should probably pick up a copy of that manual for yourself. It's possible that I misread the values, or mistyped them, or that the guy named Murphy who sorts the electrons as they flow along internet pathways will mess with the results that finally show up on your computer. The book has loads for the 300 Blackout also.)

Good luck, and please post your results in this forum.

Thanks guys, I actually ordered both the the Ar reloading manual along with the cast bullet manual by lyman earlier today after not seeing it when we drove up to bass pro shops this morning walked out with primers and powder for my handguns, seeing that in stock through me off and I forgot the whole reason I had went, now I'm 6 days away from opening day and have no sharp broadheads left.
