Consider the game you are hunting. The BM450 is good up to the largest N. American deer, hogs, etc., out to what I consider its effective range of 300 yards with the factory 250 gr FTX. Elk, moose, and bear have also been taken, but I'm pretty sure the range was more like 100 yards.

People post about what they have shot, but often do not include the ranges. If anyone wants to add to the database (which doesn't yet exist), post your stats!

b_1921-
I have not loaded any of the Swift 265 A-frames yet. I've got some 260-grain Partitions sitting on the "to-do" shelf, but that is of no help to yourself.

I'd guess that you could stay of of trouble loading these with the data for 300-grain bullets published by Hornady, Lyman, and Ramshot. I would be very cautious about interpolating using data for the 300- and 250-grain bullets. With the Nosler partition in the 460 S&W, recommended max loads for the 260-grain Nosler are notably lower that expected from looking at the 300- and 250-grain loads. OAL may be critical with the Swift bullets also.

Be careful!

For those of you in California or elsewhere looking for a lead free bullet for reloading in the 450 BM, check these out from Barnes on Midway USA - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/462267/barnes-spit-fire-tmz-muzzleloading-bullets-50-caliber-sabot-with-45-caliber-250-grain-polymer-tip-boat-tail-lead-free-box-of-24?cm_vc=ProductFinding.

I also noticed Midway has some .452 caliber 450 gr for sale -http://www.midwayusa.com/product/918926/factory-second-muzzleloading-bullets-45-caliber-452-diameter-250-grain-polymer-tipped-spitzer-for-use-with-50-caliber-sabot-box-of-50-bulk-packaged?cm_vc=subv918926. I have bought blems like these from them before, and they shoot like the factory stuff.
