I used a 275 TSX on my bear hunt in Maine a few weeks ago. 220lb male about 45yds out. He hit the ground, rolled and kicked to the other side of trail (about 6-8ft), kicked for another second, and was done. I shot a little higher than I wanted to, but still acceptable placement. Ended up missing the left lung, severing the aorta, and destroying a third of the right lung. Exit wound was the size of a cue ball, and a portion of the lung was hanging out the exit hole! After seeing that, I would think the 200 TSX would do just as good. Though, the same week I shot mine, a guy in the next county took a 470lb male. Would probably go with the 275 at that point!

I've wanted to work up those 250gr Shockwaves too...they seem like they would be a good, effective alternative to the Hornady FTXs...I'll have to see what they'll do.

I've already done my test on the 250 Shockwaves. The range report should be stickied in the reloading topics. Somewhere close to my range report with the 250 grain deep curls.

I went ahead and got a couple hundred of the 275 TSX for deer hunting. Hopefully them and my dies will get here this week and I can get some powder

Hoot, thanks for the reply. I agree with your guidance. My rig is a bushmaster brand AR 16" with a zeiss conquest 2-10 on top. I picked up a fresh pound of H110 today and ran the brass through prep couple days back. Will post some results as soon as I can get dies set up and get to the range. Rather than asking for a pet load I should have been more clear-was looking for a safe starting load. Published data is scarce for loads using other than FTX bullets.

I've read your posts on this forum for a long time and always found your reports solid and well thought out. Thanks for the knowledge!

So for the 275gr TSX are you thinking the H110 is better than lilgun?

I spoke with a representative at Barnes and he shared some load data using H110. I was a little surprised since all the reading I had done referenced Lil Gun. I do have some great experience with magnum handgun loads using H110 so I'll give it a try. As Hoot correctly reminded me it's not about max velocity, it's about accuracy and consistency so I can confidently place the shot. I have every confidence those TSX's will take it from there.

I'll get after the H110 loads and share results in the coming weeks. Unfortunately I still work for a living and that day job that slows down the fun.

Be good!

Do you care to share what Barnes suggested? I just picked up the last pound of H110 and all the 7 1/2 primers the shop had
