Does anyone use cast lead bullets in their 450BM?
I was thinking about buying some 250 -300 gr cast bullets with a gas check to use in some plinking loads.

What velocity can I run these ? I want to avoid leading problems........I figure the gas check should help.

If you are using these......do you have any problems with leading?
What are some of the loads you are using?

I have used 260's. 300's and 400's. All with gas checks -- that is a must. 260's and 300's had velocities simular to jacketed. 400's around 1500 fps. I did not get leading to any apreciable degree. A little wash, but that is it.

Accuracy is another matter.

I've tried 230's, 290's 300's and 400's. As Sirtingo said, Gas checks are a necessity, without them you will get a little leading on the back of the bolt and poor accuracy. I found hat sizing to .453 fills the throat on my rifle and eliminates any leading. At one point I went a couple of hundred rounds without cleaning, still no lead anywhere. Accuracy has been around 2 1/2" @ 100 yards. My current thinking is a boolit with more bearing surface, less unsupported nose may provide better accuracy. I also have a hollow pointed mold in one of my 130 grain designs on the way. I'm wondering if the hollow point, (less mass in the nose), will help.
